Press Release - Hononegah high school presents honk! A musical comedyThe music department is excited to be getting rehearsals and preparations underway for the upcoming spring musical comedy HONK!

“Since it first hatched in 1993, Stiles & Drewe’s musical HONK! has winged its way around the world in over 8000 productions and in many different languages and won multiple awards, including the 2000 Olivier Award for Best Musical. Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling brothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother’s protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on adventure of self discovery all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat. Along the way Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out being different is not a bad thing to be.”

The musicals at Hononegah are always a treat as they feature so many talented students. Senior Ethan Neumer will play the role of Ugly, senior Haley Frits; his mother and senior Cross Nelson as the cat. Other roles include Greylag the goose played by senior Aaron Henning and his wife Dot played by senior Anya Henbest. Other seniors being featured are Josh Ponsones as the Bullfrog, Connor Richardson as Turkey and Evelyn Schloff as Henrietta.

The show is directed by Amy Jensen, choreographed by Kristy Neumer and costumed by Rebecca Jensen. The set is constructed by Eric Mosloff and lights and sound are overseen by PAC manager Jacob Schenk. There are many students who also share in the responsibility of putting the show together! The show will be presented in the Hononegah Performing Arts Center on March 16 and 17 at 7:00 PM and March 18 at 2:00 PM.

Tickets will be going on sale to the public beginning March 5, 2018 at the following link

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students (grades 1 – 12) and 5 and under are free.  Hononegah students with an activity pass may receive one free ticket.

We hope you will make HONK! part of your springtime plans! The cast and crew are very excited to share this production with family and friends of the community. They are quite sure you won’t be disappointed.
